Twenty four years ago our father George Rubissow bought a dusty, steep, beautiful old 45 acre farm up on Mt. Veeder. Today, we bring you our own interpretation of the land we have worked and loved for so many years.
Rubissow Vineyard is a 45 acre hillside estate with 18.5 acres planted to vines and the remainder in oak, redwood and ski-slope-steep slopes. Complex micro-climates and ancient clay and sandstone soils specific to our area of southern Mt. Veeder prevail.
We farm naturally – to the highest standards of Sustainable practice. Indeed, the core of winemaker Timothy Milos’ reinterpretation of the wines is to focus on greatly improved vine nutrition and meticulous hand care of the vines. Accordingly, ripeness is determined by taste and aroma alone and the harvest is picked in small 1 to 5 ton lots to maximize ripeness and varietal character.
