The Vineyards at Royal Oaks, planted in the fall of 1998, are located in Santa Ynez at the intersection of Highway 154 and Roblar Ave. There are a total of 18 acres planted with an additional 8 acres held in reserve for future plantings. The varietals planted at this time are Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Semillon. Sauvignon Blanc was chosen as the primary varietal of the estate due to the success and recognition received by Brander Vineyard and Gainey Vineyard for their Sauvignon Blancs.
The balance of our grapes are purchased from some of the most prestigious vineyards in Santa Barbara County – the majority of our Chardonnay is from White Hawk, Los Alamos and Rancho Sisquoc vineyards. Merlot is purchased from Los Alamos, Westerly and Gainey vineyards. Syrah comes from Meeker Vineyards. The Cabernet Sauvignon is from the Gainey Vineyards, and the Cabernet Franc is from the Westerly Vineyards. In 2003, we added semi-sweet wines including White Riesling, Niagara, Muscat and a sweet red wine using the Concord grape.
When you walk into our tasting room in the heart of Solvang, you'll immediately understand the Royal Oaks philosophy relating to wine.
