In 2016, we debuted the inaugural vintage of Malene Rosé, a Provence-style rosé made from carefully selected fruit from specific sites in the California Central Coast regions of Santa Barbara and Paso Robles.
With the success of the Malene Rosé, in the spring of 2018 we introduced two new distinctive rosés, a Bandol-style Rosé of Mourvedre and an Old Vine Rosé of Grenache, made from 44-year old vines.
“Rosé has grown up and it’s a joy to work on a brand like Malene Wines that is solely devoted to crafting rosé,” says winemaker Fintan du Fresne. “I’ve embraced the challenge to present three distinctive styles of rosé, and I was inspired to elevate the wine from something juicy and delicious that one sips on a summer afternoon, to something that one thinks about as a serious wine.”
In addition to crafting intentional rosés from Santa Barbara County, we’ve also created component wines to highlight some of our favorite traditional Rosé varietals: Rolle (Vermentino) and Grenache Noir.
All of our wines are available to taste and purchase at the Malene Airstream, located in San Luis Obispo.
