Jarvis is a unique totally underground winery that includes two large chambers. The Jarvis Barrel Chai, a spectacular setting, is the largest underground man-made chamber in the world. It is complemented by the adjacent Crystal Chamber which is the home for large amethyst geodes and quartz crystals. The Tasting Room is located inside the cave where you will be seated at a large granite table while tasting six differnet Jarvis wines. The deep underground chambers are naturally cool at a constant 62⁰F the year round which is perfect for making and aging wine.
The Jarvis Cave is fronted by a several acre grassy meadow which was originally designed to be an ecological parking area. Rather than use asphalt, the area was finished with sand to support cars and planted to native grass.
This year Jarvis received its formal designation as Napa Green Certified. The winery is self sufficient in its water consumption by virtue of the two natural lakes on the estate, and all of the winery’s energy needs are met by an extensive solar array that powers every aspect of the winery.
The country's first winery built entirely underground offers an intimate glimpse into the meticulous steps that go into producing lush Chardonnays, rich Cabernet Sauvignons and velvety Merlots among others.
