Amador County is known for its deeply colored soil made up of Sierra Foothills volcanic ash. The beautiful shades of red and orange earth, combined with the region’s warm temperatures and low humidity, result in the perfect environment to produce noble grape varieties such as Zinfandel, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and Barbera.
We will also create wines from a range of other varieties, including Grenache, Tempranillo, Petite Syrah, Primitivo, and the rare, red Spanish grape, Graciano. For white wines, in addition to Sauvignon Blanc, a blend of Viognier, Roussanne, and Marsanne is planned from grapes grown in Helwig’s “3 Sisters” vineyard, named after Nancy Helwig’s mother and two aunts. Please stay tuned for the release dates of these wines.
