A Family of Wines is a boutique, micro winery started by Michael & Margene Mooney in 1997. Come visit our tasting room on the Embarcadero in Morro Bay to sample our wines and olive oils. Chateau Margene offers Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet based blends from the Paso Robles area. Mooney Family wines have a focus on Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, grown in the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey County. El Pistolero wines are a tribute to winemaker Michael Mooney’s families long time history in the Los Osos/Morro Bay area, which goes back 5 generations to the Canada de Los Osos Mexican land grant given to Victor Linares in 1842.
Extreme viticultural practices are used at their estate vineyard, as well as, 6 other local growers, with a focus on growing superior quality grapes that are hand picked, hand sorted and then gently moved through our gravity flow processing system. Average lot sizes range from 100 to 500 cases with a total annual production of 2,500 cases. Also enjoy a Complimentary tasting of our artisan olive oils (Basil, Rosemary, Mandarin Orange, Meyer Lemon, Garlic, 18 year Aged Modena) and balsamic vinegars (Fig White & Blackberry).
